Social Networking at IPC
At IPC social networking attains new levels of relevance and interactivity for hospitalists. In November 2011 IPC launched project SHINE, a professional social networking tool designed specifically for sharing clinical articles and information highlighting best practices in hospital medicine. SHINE stands for Sharing Healthcare Innovation for Nationwide Excellence. It is living, interactive portal housing state of the art information from inside and outside IPC, designed for ease of use with a social networking interface.
The articles contained in project SHINE are organized by topic [readmission rates, patient satisfaction, etc.] and each topic receives editorial overview by an IPC topic expert. The articles contain multi-media content in user friendly sections including key information on best projects from IPC practices across the country. Each IPC hospitalist has a personalized news feed serving customized information that the hospitalist has elected to follow. This interactive capability allows ongoing real-time collaboration and information sharing across IPC’s nearly 2000 providers.
